Amentet (Ament, Amentit) -
As the Gddessof Underworld she greets the souls of the deceased at the Gates of the Underworld. She is the personification of the West.
Amun (Amun-Ra) -
'King of the Gods'. A God of fertility. He was one of the eight Heh Gods of the Ogdoad. One of his many representations is the Ram.
Anubis -
A God of the Dead. Also God of Mummification, poisons and medicines. He is the son of Nephthys and also called Anpu. Opinion as to who his father was is divided, so me say Set, some say Ra.
Anubis was said to protect dead souls from the beast Ammut, the 'Devourer'.
He is often represented by a man with a jackals head.

Aten -
'God of the Visible Sun'. Aten was the God worshipped by the Pharaoh Akhenaten in oppsition to the great God Amun, to the exclusion of all others. Aten practically disappeared with Akhenatens death.
His symbol was a Sun disc/orb and rays.
Bastet -
A fertility Goddess, she is associated with womens fertility and safe childbirth. She also has protective magical powers. She is the daughter of Atum (a primeval creator God).
She is depicted as a woman with a cats head although she was originally represented by a wild lion.
Bes -
He was known as the protector of family and was believed to scare off demons and evil spirits. Unlike all other Egyptian deities, Bes was depicted full face as opposed to profile. He is a fierce looking, ugly dwarf with long arms and crooked legs.
Haapi (Hapi) -
A God of the Nile. He was a God of fertility and the North and South. It was believed that he had a cavern in the first cataract at Aswan from which he discharged the rising Nile waters. He is the husband of Nephthys. When a Pharaoh died, Haapi guarded the canopic jar containing Pharaohs lungs. The stopper on the canopic jar was the head of a baboon.
Haapi is often depicted as a well fed man with the breasts of a woman and a headdress of Nile plants.
Hathor -
Hathor is known as he Goddess of Heaven, Earth and the Underworld. She is one of the most powerful Goddesses and often associated with Isis. She is the wife of Horus. She is also associated with music, joy, the desert and sexuality.
She is often shown as a cow/woman with cows ears or a woman with a wig, horns and a Sun disc.
Horus -
The son of Osiris and Isis, he was known as the ' Protector of the reigning King'. He was also known as the ancestor of all Pharaohs. Pharaoh was know as 'Horus,living God on Earth'. He is associated with the Sun and Moon and depicted as a hawk (or man with hawks head)/ falcon.
Ihy (Ahy, Ehy, Ahi) -
The child god of music and protector of music and musicians. He is the son of Horus and Hathor. He has links with a primeval creation god.
He is shown as playing a sistrum and wearing a menit (necklace).
Isis -
Isis is known as 'Goddess of Many Names' and 'Queen of the Gods'. To the Egyptians she was known as Aset. She is the most popular of Egyptian Goddess, although nothing of her origins is known. She has close connections with all of the Egyptian Goddess, including Nut, Bastet and Hathor. She is the daughter of Ged and Nut, wife and sister of Osiris, sister of Seth and Nephthys. She is the mother of Horus.
Isis is known to be one of four Goddess to guard a corner of the royal sarcophagus. She protected Pharaohs liver.
She is usually depicted nursing Horus, but also as a female wings and a woman wearing the heiroglyph sign for 'throne' on her head.
Kephri -
Known as the God of reincarnation/creation. At Heliopolis he was considered a Sun God.
He is shown as a scarab or beetle.
Maat -
Maat is the Goddess of Order, Juastice, Truth and Harmony.
When a person died, their heart was weighed against the principle and truth of Maat, represented by an ostrich feather. If they had done wrong in their life, their heart would be devoured and they would be doomed to oblivion. If they had led a good life, they would be granted entry into the Fields of Hetep and Iaru (Heaven).
She is depicted as a woman with a single ostrich feather headdress. In her funerary context she is often shown with large outstretched wings.
Min -
Min, a fertility God was connected with two ancient cities - Khent-Min and Gebtu. He is also a God of Nomads, travellers and hunters.
He is shown as a white bull or a man with a cap of tall plumes, a flail in one hand and an erect phallus.
Mut -
Known as the 'Lady of Heaven' and 'Mother of the Sun in whom He rises'.
She is the ye and Motherof the Sun and considered as the Motherof Pharaohs.
She is shown as a woman with a vulture skin on her head with the crown of Upper Egypt.
Nephthys -
A goddess of the Underworld, she is know as the 'Lady of the Mansion'. She is wife to Seth, sister to Isis, Osiris and mother to Anubis (by Osiris). She is the protector of the Dead and protectress of Haapi.
Nut -
Goddess of the Sky and rebirth, and also a funerary Goddess. She is the daughter of Shu,sister-wife of Geb and mother to Osiris, Isis and Nephthys. She is depicted as a human female stretched acroos the sky, sometimes with a pot of water on her head.
Osiris -
Osiris is the God of the Underworld, Harvest and fertililty. Known to the Egyptians as Asar. He was drowned by his brother Seth and bought back to life by his sister-wife Isis.
He can be seen as a mummy holding the crook and flail and wearing a white crown and two plumes. His face can be black (fertile soil), green (resurrection) or white (mummy).
Ptah -
He is the God of artists and craftsmen. Also known as the 'Lord of World Order' and the 'God with Accessable face'.
In Memphite theology he was the Creator God. The world was created by his name.
He is shown as a mummy holding a a sceptre and wearing a skullcap.
Sekhmet -
Goddess of War and Vengeance. Also known as 'The Powerful One', and 'Mistress of strife and War'.
She is the wife of Ptah and mother of Nefertem. She is the daughter of Ra.
Seth -
The God of Chaos and Confusion. He is the son of Nut, brother to Osiris (who he murdered), Isis and Nephthys. He provided balance to harmony.
Shu -
Shu was the God of Light and Air. He was considered a protector of the King and supporter of the Heavens.
He is the son of Atum.
He is shown as a lion or a man with a plume on his head.
Sokar -
A God of the Necropolis. Sometimes know as 'Creator of the Royal Bones'. In earlier days he may have been an Agriculture God. He has strong connections with Ptah and Osiris (Ptah-Sokar-Osiris).
He is shown as a hawk headed Mummy with the crook and flail and a sceptre.
Taweret (Taurt, Ipy, Apet, Reret) -
A Goddess of Maturnity and childbirth. She was a fierce demonic fighter.
She can be seen as a compsite of three animals. A crocodile (her back), a pregnant hippopotamus (her head and body) and a lion (her paws).
Tefnut -
Goddess of rain, dew, heat and moisture.
She is the mother od Geb and Nut, sister-wife of Shu.
She is represented by a lioness, or a woman with a lions head.
Thoth -
Sometimes known as 'Lord of Sacred Words'. He is a God of the Moon, time, writing, science and medicine, wisdom.
He can be seen as a baboon or an ibis.
